Ethan Stats

Ethan had his 1 year check up this morning! Craziness is all I have to say............he is 6 lbs lighter than his 3 1/2 year old sister! The good note is he did fine with shots. At his 9 month appt. he got shots and when he started crying he never caught his breath and bascially passed out. He started breathing but turned kind of blue then stayed pale and his eyes were rolling back and wasn't responding for about 30-45 mins. It wasn't reassuring when the nurse and doctor kept saying "he doesn't look good, he doesn't look good". They had me just hold him and ran a bunch of tests (our doctor office is also an urgent care) but everything came back fine and he started smiling and bounced right back.

Height: 32.25" 98%
Weight: 24 lbs 73%

Happy Birthday Ethan!

I can't believe my baby boy is 1 today!!! How did this year go so fast! We have a tradition we started with Kayla and continuing with Ethan that I put streamers on their door the night before so they have some birthday fun to wake up to!

We went to Kansas this past weekend to celebrate Ethan's birthday with grandparents and Uncle Brett and Aunt Traci. We went to a park and enjoyed beautiful weather! He started laughing when he first tasted the cake and then dove in!

We found cake EVERYWHERE - he was enjoying flinging it more than eating it. Gotta love the yellow highchair. It was Micah's when he was a little boy and his parents still have it for when the grandkids come home! :) Love it!

So I thought I was thinking ahead by taking his shirt off but should have taken the shorts off too! Oh well he had so much fun it was worth it. Unfortunately he threw up frosting and cake 2 or 3 times that night but it didn't stop him from having fun playing!

Above is a very fun gift Ethan got. There is a family rift though because Micah's parents are John Deere fans (green tractor) and my parents are Case-International fans (red tractors). I guess Ethan will have to choose for himself some day which tractor he will be loyal to!

Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!!!!!!!! His smile just lights up his whole face and brings so much joy to our family! We love you!

First Urgent Care Visit (first of many)

Friday I had my first urgent care visit with Ethan. I was getting the kids ready for naps and they were playing in Kayla's room and I went into Ethan's room to get something. I heard Ethan start crying and figured he must have fallen (not unusal) so I didn't rush over and then Kayla came in freaking out and kept saying "mommy, mommy he's bleeding" and she was all panicky so I went rushing in and he was face down on the floor with blood everywhere. Let's just say there is a reason I never chose the medical field - I don't do well with blood! I picked him up and I think he fell right on the corner of a wood block and the gash in his head was very deep. I normally would have called Micah right away but of course he was taking boards and there was no way I could reach him. I knew he needed stiches so off we went to the urgent care, thankfully after much discussion they decided to go with glue. Seriously, how would you put stiches in an active almost one year old boy? Being the happy little boy that Ethan is, he was smiling and charming the nurses through the whole thing. This pic is with Aunt Cherise friday evening and he was still happy!

Friday night my sister and I met my mom in Kansas City for the weekend. We stayed at The Plaza and had a great relaxing time shopping, talking and eating! :) The kiddos got to have bonding time with Micah and I was quite impressed of all the outings that they went on. He is such a great daddy.

On a side note Micah feels good about boards overall. Many of you asked and he won't find out the results for 8-12 weeks. Go figure, medical world drawing things out!!!!!!

Boards!!

Micah is taking his Internal Medicine Boards test tomorrow. Please be praying for him! Interesting fact - he basically can walk into the room with only the clothes on his back. He can not wear a watch, bring his wallet in, etc. He is fingerprinted and photographed whenever he enters the room. Hard core security to make sure nobody is taking the test for you I guess! This will be the last big test (finally) until he will have to recertify in 10 years.

Summer Vacation

This summer has been busy with some fun vacations. The longest one was to Colorado with Micah's immediate family. We stopped in Colorado Springs to see some best friends from college and then headed to Breckenridge the rest of the week. Other than getting to spend some fun time with family our highlights were hiking and white water rafting.

Beachy's enter blog world

I started this blog months ago but never got it officially going.............So, I finally decided to get it together and join the blog world and let you all share in our life!
